7 Cost Cutting Tips
Today's market is rough, so all of us are looking for ways to cut costs. Here are just a few that you can try for yourself: 1. Shared plans with cell phones. If you have a cell phone that offers shared plans (two or more phones sharing the same minutes for a small extra fee) and have a family member that you can trust, ask them if they would like to split the bill with you. My normal cell phone [...]
The 9th Green’s Readers Favorite Songs of 2007
Before I get to your favorite songs of the year I first want to mention that just before Christmas I had ordered a gift for someone through Amazon and among the usual spam advertising slips that they stuff into their boxes there was an envelope where you can place old cell phones to send to the troops. So if you got a new cell phone for Christmas or are just like me and is a pack rat who keeps everything for no reason and had three just lying around collecting dust, please check out this website: Cell [...]
What do you do with your old cell phones?
Stuff them in a drawer? Throw them away? Let the kids play with them? I hope not. For one thing, a typical cell phone may contain elements of lead, zinc, beryllium, arsenic, cadmium and other bioaccumulative toxins. Do you want your kids playing with that? These days, all you hear about are ways to lessen your carbon footprint. Well, here's one more way....A writer friend of mine has started a business which recycles old cell phones and their accessories and donates the money to charity. Check out Cellular [...]
America, how did we ever keep children safe before cell phones?
Textually.org blogs about the results of an online survey regarding cell phones and kids. All I can say, is "what a difference a decade or two makes!" As a teen, I would use a public telephone at the mall to "phone home." I could check in and check out virtually at will, since my mom didn't drive and dad hated to drive anybody anywhere. In 2007 we have a crop of chauferred, coddled youth... is that good or bad? [...]

Bar Wars
Which cell phone providers offer service where is important for road trippers -- but how can you tell? While driving through eastern Colorado not long ago, my husband and I occasionally opened our cell phones and compared how many bars we had. Mindful of tedious television commercials that I've seen about coverage, this seemed like an informative diversion. I assumed that a specific number of bars means the same thing on all phones and with all providers. Not so, reports technology reporter Tom Simonite in [...]
Looking for new cell phones?
Mum and I love our new cell phone - it's a Palm Centro. It helps us stay organized, in touch with our friends, up to date on all the doggie news and lots more. We can sync with Outlook which keeps my blogging and agility calendar up to date, and it manages all of our contacts. We Twitter from it, and even have blogged form our cell phone! And one of Mum's favorite features is the MP3 player that she uses at agility between our runs to keep focused. If you are looking for a new cell phone - maybe a at&t [...]
What is Missing at Your House?
When my son moved out, my universal recharger for my cell phone went with him. It is a handy gadget to have in case someone is visiting and does not have a cell phone recharger with him or her. I went looking on the website of a Computer Parts Distributor and found a 3-in-1 cell phone charger package that includes USB AC and DC charger and charging connectors that will work with Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Siemens, Samsung and other cell phones. For $13.25, it is a good deal. I love gadget websites, so [...]
Is mobile phone airtime too expensive in Malawi?
The government of Malawi has introduced a 10 percent surtax on mobile phone airtime starting from 1 July 2008. At the same time it scrapped off import tax on cell phones being sold by mobile phone operators TNM and Zain Malawi (formerly Celtel Malawi). Hence TNM is selling its NOKIA 1200 phones at MK3800 while Zain Malawi is selling its ZTE phones which have been dubbed “Mose wa lero” phones at MK2800 (USD20). The ZTE have been dubbed "Mose wa lero" because they say this is an initiative of the [...]
