Child Safety Seat Inspections
Safety comes first, and if your carseat or booster seat is not properly installed it may not protect your child as intended in the event of a car accident. Did you know that you can have your carseat or booster seat inspected for free? Find a Child Safety Seat Inspection station near you, and schedule an appointment. We've been to our local EMS several times for inspections of our seats, and every time I learn an important safety feature about my car and my carseats. I learned how to properly tether my [...]
Pedestrian Safety: Whose Responsibility?
In the past month or so not only have I seen someone being hit by a car and almost been hit myself two days ago, but now a judge has let a woman off for killing a little girl and the comments to the article clearly reflect the driver-centric culture we live in. The woman in the case passed a stopped vehicle and struck and killed a child crossing alongside her mother. Maybe the judge was right in his verdict, but the comments make me angry. Yes, pedestrians are responsible for their own safety to a certain [...]
Teachers Union Creates Own Grades for Schools that Includes Safety, Teamwork by Erin Einhorn and Carrie Melago - Daily News
Read original... Dismayed that the city's school report cards focus largely on test scores, the teachers union has created an alternative that also measures safety, teamwork and other factors. United Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten unveiled to city leaders as well as the Daily News Editorial Board what she billed as a "common sense" formula for rating schools. "It looks at what makes a school a place where parents want to send their child and every teacher would want to work," she said [...]

The internet is definitely without doubt the biggest global information centre. Online education is welcomed by parents so that their babies can be taught from an early age - or for the older child to better themselves. But, how many parents welcome online entertainment. gift giving
Christmas is all about the kids. The joy they have in opening their gifts that wonderful morning. Usually parents are concerned about whether or not the kids will like their toys. Will Santa get the child everything he or she wanted? Will that tricycle be hell to set up? Will batteries be forgotten? Or even how will we pay those holiday bills? Those usual fears show much simpler times. The times before the waves of recall terror thrust upon us this year. That's right. I said "terror". Terror is when you [...]

Kindergarten, Day Three
So far, so good. He seems to really like his teacher and today when I picked him up he gushed on and on about having two new best friends. One is named Kevin but he can't remember the other boy's name. I always have to hold back giggles when he talks of "best friends" but doesn't know names. Life is so easy when you are five. :) And in case you are wondering, recess is his favorite time. :)Life isn't so easy for me though. I'm having issues about the big yellow bus. Mainly, I'm not sure when or if I will [...]
Targeting Toys: Mattel Recall
Last November, Mattel, Inc. received some praise in its handling of a recall of Polly Pocket Assortments. This year, as Mattel has endured a third major toy recall in a single month and we?re starting to wonder if frequency might erode its ?Premier Brand Toys? positioning statement."It will have an impact. People will be looking at it, it will be in the back of their minds," Andy Brisebois, president of the Children's Safety Association of Canada, told CanWest News Service. "lt's a natural reaction and I [...]
