Review The Sexy Years
I don’t know about you but the title of this book doesn’t inspire my confidence. The cover even less so. But you know the old cliche, you can’t judge a book by its cover, and in this case I’m not judging but ignoring the cover completely. Suzanne Somers provides excellent inspiration to take charge of your life, [...]
Minus presents ?EXPANSION / contraction? release and album tour
Of the continuing themes found throughout the music released on MINUS, one constant exploration is the relationship between Sound and Silence. Within the stripped down but dimensional outcome there exists a polarity that is neither controlled nor accidental, where life imitates art in between the notes. The act of finding inspiration from a sonic molecule [...] [...]
Celeb Style
Amy Winehouse: "She has a real sense of style that I just love. She's very much a fashion icon and I adore what she wears. She's so unique and original." -Victoria Beckham“She is a beautiful, gifted artist. And I very much like her hairdo. I took it as an inspiration.” -Karl LagerfeldLet's just forget the fact that her personal life is a hot mess. I'd rather focus on her personal style. Like her [...]

Evangelista - Hello, Voyager
Constellation Records Carla Bozulich, the brainchild behind the band Evangelista, describes the sound of Hello, Voyager as “gospel noise.” Even after sitting here for fifteen minutes thinking about how to pinpoint the sound of the album, even after listening to the record for a month straight, I cannot, for the life of me, think of a more apt description. “The inspiration for the album came from a feeling of gratitude for all the music and friends and love that has brought me into the place I’m [...]
inspiration - kimiko yoshida
i was recently introduced the amazing self-portraits of kimiko yoshida via pink tentacle . in a 2006 interview with barbara oudiz of eyemazing kimiko speaks of her work... with each photograph i create, i am carrying out a ceremony of disappearance. in fact, it is not me that I’m photographing. i’m photographing a corpse. my work speaks of death, but there is no suffering. from a technical point of view, each one is a still life. i use very low indirect lighting - two tungsten lamps - which are [...]
deliciously vintage inspiration: charley harper
today i want to share some some scanned spreads from my vintage (1958) copy of betty crocker's dinner for two cookbook , chock full of fantastic illustrations by the late charley harper . i picked this little spiral-bound book up at an antique store — but you can still find copies of it online. meanwhile, todd oldham's 424 page book, charley harper: an illustrated life is high on my wish-list of must-haves. harper's sense of color and composition is magnificently graphic and clean, and there's so much [...]
'Til Death Do Us Part
Here's a drawing I did this afternoon. It's a picture of two hugging skeletons. This idea was taken from a photo of Banksy's stenciled scuba diving skeletons. My skeletons will be bead- embroidered inside one of the windows of my beaded brick building. They'll match the skull driver that sits inside the graffitied Triumph of Death on Brick Lane in East London.I chose the hugging skeletons because humans need each other until the day they die. We need each other for love. We need each other for friendship [...]
Live Life With Passion Like Anthony Bourdain
I hope that you had a lovely Labor Day weekend, I certainly did. My brother came down from Dallas for a visit for the first few days of the weekend. On Monday, Labor Day, after my brother went home and my husband had gone to the outlet mall to avail himself of the holiday sales I spent the day watching the Travel Channel. Specifically I watched the Anthony Bourdain "No Reservations" marathon. I had seen a few Anthony Bourdain shows in the past but had never watched as many as I did on Monday. I was [...]
