Sox For Sale

En Dave Lucas Published 20 days and 5 hours and 2 minutes ago.

Nothing is sacred: The Boston Red Sox will look a little different during their season-opening trip to Japan in March. For the first time, they will have an advertisement on their uniform for a regular season game. More While such uniform logos are routine in Japanese baseball, there are (thankfully) no plans to start selling ad space on Sox uniforms in the United States Tag: red sox ads uniform [...]

Yankees May Charge Worker In Red Sox Jersey-Burial

En On The Bricks Published 26 days and 17 hours and 5 minutes ago.

NEW YORK ― The New York Yankees could seek criminal charges against a Boston Red Sox-loving construction worker who buried a jersey of his favorite team in the new stadium. But Gino Castignoli, the Red Sox fan who said he intended to curse the Yankees by planting the jersey, said he did it in jest. "Anybody with half a brain knows it was all done in fun," Castignoli said in Monday editions of The New York Post. About possible legal actions the Yankees may pursue, the Bronx-born Local 780 cement mason told [...]

XML Aficionado

En Cashspeak Published 11 days and 14 hours and 1 minute ago.

I was surfing on the web recently and found a pretty cool blog. The XML Aficionado blog covers everything XML and also covers new technologies, trends, and gadgets. Funny enough, although the XML Aficionado blog is mainly about XML and technology, the blogger, Alexander Falk, appears to be a big Boston Red Sox fan. Thus, spread intermittently between posts you will catch some news about the Red Sox.All in all, it is an informative blog that is worth a look. Go check it out. [...]

Papelbon: My Dog Ate World Series Ball.

En On The Bricks Published 22 days and 21 hours and 4 minutes ago.

BOSTON — T he World Series ball is gone, and Jonathan Papelbon has an excuse: My dog ate it. Farfetched or not, that's what the Red Sox closer insists happened to the souvenir from the final out of Boston's sweep this year. Really, Papelbon blamed it on his bulldog, Boss. "He plays with baseballs like they are his toys," Papelbon told the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American. "He jumped up one day on the counter and snatched it. He likes rawhide. He tore that thing to pieces. Nobody knows that. I'll keep what's [...]

25 is the New 35

En Between the Lines Published 9 days and 22 hours and 22 minutes ago.

Red Sox beat writers Gordon Edes and Amalie Benjamin demonstrate just a little unfamiliarity with the roster of their team's main rival: The Yankees, even with lefthander Andy Pettitte informing the club he will return for a 14th big-league season, would seem to have a greater need for Santana. Their rotation is aging and lacking a true No. 1 starter. The Sox potentially have Beckett, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Lester, Buchholz and veterans Curt Schilling and Tim Wakefield, but would become prohibitive favorites in [...]

Calling All Red Sox Fans

En Melancholy Musings Published 19 hours and 48 minutes ago.

This would be the place to go if you love baseball so head on over to Boston Red Sox Spring Training tickets where you can find out what tickets are available. It's quite exciting to go to a game with all the other fans out there to watch your favorite team play and cheer them on and possibly even show your love by wearing their colors or even painting your face like some fans do. Sure you could watch the game on TV but being there just adds something to the whole experience and you have no chance of [...]

Global Hysteria

En Between the Lines Published 10 days and 12 hours and 31 minutes ago.

Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe is feeling just a little bit down about the Red Sox these days. Of course, they haven't been playing so well, but Bob goes a little overboard with the negativity, don't you think? But the truth is, there is no great reason to feel optimistic about the chances of the 2007 Red Sox. Who gets the ball in Game 2 of the AL Division Series? What if the bullpen doesn't snap out of it? What if Manny never Mannys? Will they manufacture at least one run? Does Papi have some late-inning [...]

The Eternally-Maligned K

En Between the Lines Published 10 days and 12 hours and 31 minutes ago.

Strikeouts really don't deserve the abuse they take from the mainstream baseball media. It's no coincidence that many of the best players in baseball are also prone to the K, but this relationship too often goes unnoticed in favor of scapegoating like this:Manager Ozzie Guillen says he'd like to see more emphasis on on-base percentage among White Sox hitters next season, and one place to start is cutting down on strikeouts. Sox hitters fanned 12 times Saturday night against the Angels and have struck out [...]

Chicks Don't Dig the Strikeout...

En Between the Lines Published 10 days and 12 hours and 31 minutes ago.

...And neither does Dallas News columnist Evan Grant:Forget the club record. The Rangers are on the way to becoming one of the most frequently whiffed teams in AL history. With their second strikeout this weekend, the Rangers will have the third highest strikeout total in league history, behind Tampa Bay (1,291 this season and still going) and Detroit (1,268 in 1996). Both were 90-loss teams. The moral: fail to make contact, and losses will mount.No. That is not the moral. There is no moral, except for the [...]

The Bases are Loaded

En The Lone Beader Published 4 days and 10 hours and 50 minutes ago.

Today, I really do have to ride the Green Line . Unfortunately, I ran out of the matte green seed beads I was using to bead the rear door of my trolley. I remember I got that particular colour at Beadworks on Newbury St. So, I'm headed to Arlington Station , but that's a long ways away! We're only at Boston University ! And, the train is packed ! Full of Red Sox fans! Look at all of them! (click to enlarge) I forgot! Today is Opening Day at Fenway ! Ah well... Soon, everyone will get off the train at [...]
