We're So Very Back!
After recuperating from a cold I acquired on the last leg of our long journey home to Maui and playing the game of 'catch-up', I'm ready to blog again! It has taken me awhile to find the time and energy to do so. I think one of the reasons is that the Maui energy is very, very different from the East Coast and Caribbean energy, and thus it takes a while to acclimate again to Maui's energies. It was rejuvenating to take a long blog break and let my mind rest. After becoming an obsessive blogger, my mind was [...]

How is Blackle saving energy?
Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. "Image displayed is primarily a function of the user's color settings and desktop graphics, as well as the color and size of open application windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen." Roberson et al, 2002In January 2007 a blog post titled Black Google Would Save 750 Megawatt-hours a Year proposed the theory that a black version of the Google search engine would save a fair [...]

Bushed
I'm sure a lot of folks are wondering where the blog has been the last week or so. Fact is I'm giving myself a break. Other family and professional commitments are eating into my (hockey) time and I'm finding it difficult finding the energy to wade through 100 emails a day to filter out the articles that land on the blog. Some might have noticed I had cut the player articles and gone back to the focus on business-only articles. This reduced my time it takes to post, but not the filtering. I'm not stopping. [...]
What Were YOU Doing Two Years Ago?
This is a humorous cartoon/self-portrait I drew for my humor blog, Blog-Blond , at the beginning of June '06. At that time I began investing my energy in the blogosphere, and with much determination, taxing of my brain-power, and wearing the same baggy pants for days on end, I blogged day after day. However, I wasn't very computer savvy, and since I had few friends who were blogging at that time, most of my learning came through trial and error and with the aid of computer angels. Mahalo Nui Loa for all [...]
Are young people at risk?
Hey guysHope you all had an awesome week. I have a brilliant time down at the YoMo national youth conference. There was so much energy and passion for helping young people during the conference it was unbelievable. On my journey home from the conference I started thinking about this blog that I wanted to share with you.In this week’s blog I want to talk about a term which I find is banded about very wrongly and that is the term ‘at risk.’ It’s a term which is a buzz word when it comes to young [...]

Back Seat Blogging
I've got a lot going on at the moment here at home and work so for a little while I feel that blogging is going to take a bit of a back seat. I don't really want it to, but I don't have the energy or motivation to blog or even be online that much. I hope this wont last long... Off to make a nice strong cuppa and read my book - it's pretty good..
